Frequently Asked Questions About the Aqualizer
1. Is this a new Water Treatment Process?
No! The principle of "Catalytic
Water Conditioning" (the modern term for the ancient technology behind the AQUALIZER) was used by the
Inca Indians of South America hundreds of years ago to keep water fresh as they transported it between places. A similar
process was used as wagon trains moved settlers to the west; silver and copper coins were put in the water containers to keep
the water free of stagnation. Today there are many long-term customers who have used the AQUALIZER
for years with great satisfaction.
2. What does the AQUALIZER do?
In the most basic term, the AQUALIZER
stabilizes the ions in the water and this inhibits scale build-up in any water circulating system and destroys many forms
of algae that generally cause an increase in the demand for chemical additives.
In Recreational applications, such as swimming pools and spas, the stabilized water has less need for costly
harsh chemicals. Often the demand is reduced by as much as 75% As a result, chlorine odors, eye and skin irritations,
and costly long-term damage to equipment surfaces due to scale and corrosion are virtually eliminated.
In Industrial applications, such as cooling towers, steam boilers, heat exchangers, etc.., the AQUALIZER
inhibits the build-up of scale deposits and progressively removes these deposits that have previously accumulated.
3. What Field Tests Prove the AQUALIZER is Working?
In Industrial and Commercial
Applications (such as cooling towers and boilers) after the AQUALIZER is installed, a periodic visual
inspection will show the results in a decrease in the amount of scale deposits and rust. Also, standard water chemistry
test readings will indicate scale-causing components that have been placed in suspension, requiring more frequent "blow downs"
until all previous scale deposits are removed, thus providing a more efficient heat transfer and savings in fuel consumption.
In Recreational water Applications (like swimming pools, spas, etc.), positive results can be seen the very
next day after the AQUALIZER has been installed. The initial results will be seen in the clarity and
feel of the water. Normal monitoring of the water quality by the standard testing procedures over the next few weeks
will show a decrease in alkalinity and total hardness. By using a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) Meter, a drastic reduction
of the levels of contaminates in the water can be documented. The customer's normal water testing procedures will show
the desired level of Chlorine (which is needed for the control of bacteria and algae) can be maintained by using much
less chemicals that previously used.
4.
Is the AQUALIZER approved by Underwriter's Laboratory?
The AQUALIZER
is not an electrical device, therefore, it Does Not need UL Electrical Approval.
5.
Are any chemical needed with the AQUALIZER?
In Recreational applications,
the AQUALIZER will generally reduce the need for chemicals but it will not totally eliminate the use of chemicals.
There have been a wide range of reports from customers; some have stated they are only using about 10% of the chemicals they
previously used; others reported only a 40% savings in the daily consumption of chemicals.
In Commercial and Industrial Applications (any "closed loop" or "water circuit") there is little need
for chemical, if frequent "blow downs" are performed at intervals close enough to remove the suspended materials in the water.
However, if chemicals are used, after the AQUALIZER is installed, those chemicals will last longer in the
system and be much more effective in the intended purpose.
6. Is the AQUALIZER a water softener?
Because of the unit's affect on
Calcium Carbonate, Calcium Sulfate, Alumina and Silica (all of which are Total Suspended Solids {TSS}), there is a minimal
softening effect in water treated by the unit. However, the AQUALIZER is not classified as a water
softener; it is CATALYTIC WATER CONDITIONER which STABILIZES water. With a complex
electro-chemical change in the water at the molecular level, the unit causes salt, rust and scale ions to be held in a state
of colloidal suspension. This prevents these contaminants from accumulating as scale either or on the walls and surfaces
of equipment.
7.
Does the AQUALIZER need special maintenance?
None at all. The AQUALIZER will never wear out, nor need repair, nor need cleaning, nor any up-keep
of any kind. Once it is properly installed, the AQUALIZER just works quietly on the job, saving money
day in and day out, year after year.
8. Who
installs the AQUALIZER?
The Residential
installations are very simple. A pictorial installation guide insures the ease of installation. Generally, the
customer is responsible for installation. Either the customer can personally install the unit or (for an optional additional
charge the sales representative is trained to assist with this task. If the customers desires, either a reputable maintenance
company or a licensed plumber may be contracted to do the installation.
Industrial or Commercial installations should be done by qualified persons. The installation in such
cases may be done either by an employee of the company who is responsible for the equipment where the unit is being installed
or (for a very reasonable consulting fee plus his expense) Metal Reaction, Inc. can provide an installation consultant who
will work with the customer's staff to insure proper installation.
In any event, installation support may be obtained by placing a telephone
call to the offices of the AQUALIZER
9.
Does the AQUALIZER affect rust?
Yes! Because the AQUALIZER
reduces the gaseous state of water, it inhibits oxidation (rusting). By process of "oxygen deprivation", the
unit suspends the corrosive action of active rusting. Consequently, when rust deposits are not active, they will gradually
break down and be reduced and eventually removed by the unit's patented process.
10.
How long does the AQUALIZER last?
Honestly, nobody really knows. Because it is non-electrical
and non-magnetic, the AQUALIZER has no moving parts to wear out and be replaced. Because the case is
stainless steel, it is durable and impervious to rust and corrosion. Because the special patented core is an alloy made
of dissimilar precious and semi-precious metals, it does not either corrode or erode away and it will never need to be replaced.
The first commercial unites were personally sold and installed by patent holder and developer, Mr. Luis Gomez, in New Orleans,
Louisiana, in the year 1977. These units are still performing efficiently today.
The AQUALIZER has passed the toughest test of all
THE TEST OF TIME!
11.
What sizes are the AUALIZER units?
The sizes of the units range from
Three-Fourths inch (3/4") to forty-eight inches (48") in diameter, and from Five inches (5") to thirty-six inches (36") in
length.
The size of the unit that is customer needs depends mainly on two things
a. The INSIDE DIAMETER (ID) of the line in which it is being installed
b. The number of gallons of water to be treated.
Secondary considerations in Industrial applications include the flow rate, the temperature and the pressure in the line.
Custom units may be special ordered for customers with specific water handling equipment that needs something other than a
"stock" unit. Certain conditions apply for special orders. The delivery time for custom-made is usually four to
six weeks.
12. How does the AQUALIZER perform in salt water?
Since salt water has better conductivity
than fresh water, it is more difficult to document how well the unit is working. However, certain things have been reported,
when the units have been used in salt-water pool applications:
a. About 20% of the salt has been removed
b. The water was much clearer after the unit was installed
Some
experimental units have been installed on fishing vessels on the intake ports where seawater is drawn in and used to cool
the engines. Preliminary reports state that "as much as 80% of the salt fails to crystallize in the intakes and it is
returned to the sea. This means, we have not had to dry-dock the ship to have the Salt and Calcium deposits (which normally
build-up on the intakes) sand-blasted off in almost two years".
13.
What about installation position?
Since there is no "flow direction" to the units, the AQUALIZER can be installed in any position. It
works equally well installed either horizontally or vertically.
Note:
For the best results, the AQUALIZER
should be installed as close as
possible to the greatest volume of water it is going to treat.
14. What about heavy industrial equip. or large commercial application?
Should the need arise, Metal Reaction,
Inc.'s foundry and machine shop is equipped
to manufacture units as large as Forty-eight inches (48") in diameter. If requested, units can be custom made to fit
any industrial or commercial need.
15.
How much does the AQUALIZER cost?
Prices range from several hundred to several thousand. The Retail Price of the unit is directly related to the size
of the unit needed for a specific water application.
In any case, by saving money in chemicals, in maintenance and up-keep costs and in operational costs, the unit will pay for
its’ self many times over.
16.
How about Guarantee and Warranty?
Each and every AQUALIZER
comes with a 90-day, money-back guarantee and a full 5-year product warranty. *See the warranty about and guarantee certificate for details.
17. How can the purchase of the AQUALIZER be justified?
It is really easy to commercial and industrial units and in three to five years for residential unestablish the value of the
AQUALIZER. Depending on the system in which the unit is used, it is estimated that the selling price
of the unit can be regained about one year for its.
When the following factors are considered together, anyone should be able to see how the unit will pay for its self many times
over:
a. Savings in chemical consumption.
b. Savings through the reduced costs of preventive maintenance.
c. Savings in decreased "down time" caused by having to replace or clean clogged pipes in the system.
d. Savings because of lowered operational costs through more efficient functioning of the system that saves in electricity
and/or fuel consumption.
e. Savings mechanically because valves will be "freed-up" and lines will stay clear of blockages caused by scale
build-up. Therefore, the system will deliver the proper rate of flow.
f. In private Recreational applications, the AQUALIZER provides these additional advantages that cannot be
evaluated on monetary basis:
1. crystal clear water
2. no eye or skin irritation due to the excessive use of chemical
3. protection of pool surface from stains
4. no chlorine odor
5.
better control of algae and bacteria
6. prolonged life of the pool surface and tile
7. protection of solar heaters from excess TDS build-up
8. extended use of filter medium
9. longer lasting pump and motor parts
